What’s Going On With This Thing?
- By Integr8
No matter what the manufacturers say, it might seem as though we just can’t get optimal battery life from our mobile devices. In most cases, this has nothing to do with the hardware, but instead, how we’re using our phone. Actually, more like how certain apps are using our phone. Prior to iOS 8, we weren’t able to easily see which apps were draining our battery without setting up a Genius Bar appointment at the Apple Store. Now, we can get this information directly from our phone by following these steps.

iOS 8 Steps Up Its Safari Game
- By Integr8
With the new larger displays on the latest iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, you might find yourself using the device to surf the web even more than before. I personally have increased my data consumption significantly because the larger screen is enough reason to reach for my iPhone 6 Plus instead of my iPad. This isn’t always the case; however, when I’m on the go, it tends to be more convenient to use my phone. In this post I’m going to share two new features that were previously reserved for using Safari on your computer.

Bluetooth Woes With iOS 8.0.2 Update And How To Fix Them
- By Integr8
Apple has recently released the iOS 8.0.2 update for those who wish to partake. There were some bug fixes; however, some users including myself noticed a new bug that emerged upon updating. I didn’t notice it immediately, but there was indeed a problem with Bluetooth connectivity and my vehicle. While I haven’t found a list of vehicles this impacts, my 2013 Toyota Tacoma happened to be one of them.

Buying A New iOS Device? Check This Out First.
- By Integr8
As many of you might be aware already, Apple has taken steps to help protect it’s customers from becoming victims of hardware theft. With iOS 7, they introduced a feature called Activation Lock. When you sign in to iCloud on your Apple mobile devices, not only do you have access to Find My iPhone but in the event that it is stolen, the device will be useless without having the proper username and password for the iCloud account associated with it. Apple’s goal with implementing this feature was to deter criminals from stealing Apple technology. While in a perfect world, this would mean that no one would ever steal your iPhone again; however, the fact is, there are some people out there who don’t seem to care. Apple is aware of this reality and has yet again given us a tool to help protect us.

Data recovery for the iPhone? Yes, it is possible.
- By Integr8
I recently had a client who’s phone wasn’t able to be retrieved under any circumstances. When I got the call I was reminded of numerous past experiences I’ve had when working at the Apple Store. Luckily, the stars were aligned and we were able to work together in getting the information that was on the device, even without the device present. It was because of this success story that I’m posting this blog.
After getting the phone call, my heart sank a bit knowing that most of us keep some valuable things on our phone that we can never imagine losing. Immediately, I started researching what kind of options there were for getting some if not all of the important data back and accessible to my client. I came across Dr. Fone, a data recovery software by a company called Wondershare. While Dr. Fone is compatible with iOS devices, it also works with other platforms such as Android. For todays purposes, we will be covering how it works with Apple’s mobile devices.

Sync And Back-up With iTunes
- By Integr8
In a previous post, I covered the inner workings of iCloud. I explained that iCloud consists of both syncing and backup services. You also learned the difference between the two services. If you need some clarification on the topic, I encourage you to check out, Syncing and Backing Up With iCloud, prior to venturing too far into this post.
In this post we will cover how iTunes syncs and backs up your iOS devices, what data is synced, what data is backed up, where this information is stored, and I will include some important pointers about syncing using iTunes. Keep in mind, this isn’t a step by step tutorial but instead, it’s meant to work in conjunction with, Syncing and Backing Up With iCloud, to help you make the decision on how to best protect your data.
