Today, the stars must have been aligned, or something like that. Believe it or not, part of my job is to browse through all sorts of social media sites throughout the day. While I wasn’t looking for anything in particular today, I noticed a video that struck my interest since 5 of my Facebook friends had Liked it. The first time I saw it, I decided to return to it at a later time. In the world of Facebook, that’s not always the best choice since one’s feed updates so frequently. Luckily for me, it was still there, and would shape my plans for the day.
Recently, I’ve been thinking about the vision for my company. I started Integr8 to help others use technology to achieve their goals, both personal and business. I’ve always enjoyed the community formed by small business owners. I wanted to be a part of this community and I was ready to dive in, so I left the comfort of a good job with an epic company to follow my passion. Before I get too far off track here, let me explain what this has to do with the video I found.
This video was made by a local tattoo studio, Marked Studios, that is reinventing the idea of a tattoo parlor. The first thing I noticed was that this wasn’t something someone just threw together. Just like everything else they’re doing, there was a lot of thought and hard work put into it. The second thing I noticed was that Marked Studios was using Apple products to help create a memorable experience for their customers.
This of course peeked my interest and I knew I needed to go in and witness it first hand. I walked in and was greeted by a very friendly staff and explained that I was there due to the video and not actually to get work done. While I do enjoy getting tattoos, I reluctantly refrained from doing so today. I was shown how they were using iPads in their day to day routine and was surprised and thankful that a place like this was in my city. My timing couldn’t have been better for a visit. You see, they were just starting the process of setting up an Apple TV with a wide screen television to showcase the artists work.
I had the pleasure of helping to get things up and running. Kudos to them for coming up with such a cool idea.
When all was said and done, I walked out of Marked Studios excited to see who else might benefit from my help with integrating technology into their business. I also know exactly where I’ll be heading when I’m ready to get some more ink. I was really impressed with the professionalism and the excitement of the artists there. I truly had a blast working with them and was reminded as to why I took on the challenge of starting Integr8.Contact
